When a Paid Tracker Is the Better Choice
GetMarketAlerts does one thing: it tells you when Congress trades. Choose Capitol Trades to browse House and Senate trades, politician pages and committee memberships for free. Choose Quiver Quantitative to backtest a strategy built on Congress trades, screen stocks, or export the data. Choose Unusual Whales if you also want options flow and dark pool data. Our email alerts cover the House of Representatives only (Senate trades appear on our leaderboard and weekly list), so if you need Senate alerts, use one of the others.
How the Alerts Work
Pick who to follow: a House member, all of the House as a daily or weekly digest, or one stock. Every morning around 10am Eastern we check the House Clerk's disclosure index, and when a new filing appears you get an email with the trades in it. Members can disclose a trade up to 45 days after making it, so these alerts tell you what Congress has done, not what it is about to do.
Questions
- Is there a free way to get email alerts when Congress members trade stocks?
- Yes. GetMarketAlerts is free: follow one House member, all of the House, or a single stock, and you get an email when a new disclosure is filed.
- How quickly do Congress trade alerts arrive?
- We check the House Clerk's disclosure index every morning around 10am Eastern and email followers the same day a new filing appears. Members can disclose a trade up to 45 days after making it, so an alert is never real time.
- Does GetMarketAlerts cover the Senate?
- Partly. Senate trades appear on the Congress leaderboard, the weekly list of what Congress bought and each stock's page. Email alerts and member pages cover House members only. Capitol Trades and Unusual Whales list Senate trades as well.
- What is an alternative to Capitol Trades with email alerts?
- Capitol Trades is free and publishes new trades on its site. Its About page points to its Twitter/X feed for new-trade notifications and does not mention email alerts. GetMarketAlerts emails you when a House member discloses a trade.
- What is an alternative to Unusual Whales for Congress trades?
- Unusual Whales has a free plan with data delayed two trading days, and lists politician trade information on paid plans starting at $50 a month, alongside options flow and dark pool data. GetMarketAlerts sends Congress trade alerts for free.
- What is an alternative to Quiver Quantitative for Congress trades?
- Quiver Quantitative offers basic Congress trading data for free and lists alerts, a backtester and a stock screener under its Premium subscription. Its pricing page asks you to create an account, so we don't list a price. GetMarketAlerts sends the email alerts for free.
